About me.

Hi, I'm Matt Evans, a freelance designer based in Cardiff, South Wales. If you're on this page, you're probably looking to learn some things about little old me, so grab a cup of coffee and read on.

Design Background.

From an early age I was keen on design. As a child I would draw pictures of castles and have my Grandfather build models of them for me in his garage. I studied woodwork in school and found I had a talent for making things. I then went on to University to gain a BA degree in Product Design. It was in University that I was introduced to perhaps the most addictive drug ever known to man... Photoshop!

In September 2008, some years after finishing University I found myself thumbing through a copy of "(X)HTML & CSS for Dummies" in a bookstore. I've always been up for a challenge so I bought the book and started smashing out some "awesome" (so I thought) little web pages. I was happy with my little pages for a while but they always looked so drab compared to all those professional sites, I just had to know how it was done. I found the best source of information was, yes you guessed it, the internet. Now most people think the 'net is just loads of "adult entertainment" sites, e-shops and chatrooms linked together by Google, which for the most part is true, but amidst all this chaos I found a lot of really nice people who were only too willing to help a budding web designer learn a thing or two, so learn I did.

If you'd like to see just how much I've learned since I started, pop along to the portfolio page and take a look at some of my work.

What else do I do with my life?

I currently work full time and am learning more about web design in my spare time, therefore my time for projects is somewhat limited to a few evenings and weekends at the moment. Because of this, I am able to offer some very reasonable and somewhat flexible rates, depending on the type and scale of project.

In my spare time, aside from sitting in front of a computer messing around with Photoshop and typing page after page of code, I enjoy a spot of DIY and am currently renovating my house (this has been going on for some years now... I'm a very busy guy).
